Butamaxx – Butachlor 50% EC
Butamaxx is a herbicide manufactured by MaxxGro Agrology Limited, containing Butachlor 50% as an emulsifiable concentrate (EC) formulation. It is used as a pre-emergence herbicide for controlling weeds such as Cyperus difformis, Cyperus iria, Echinochloa crusgalli, Echinochloa colonum, Eleusine indica, Eclipta alba, Fimbristylis miliacea, Ludwigia parviflora and Sphenoclea zeylanica in transplanted paddy. Butachlor is absorbed mainly by the germinating shoots and coleoptile of susceptible weeds.
As an emulsifiable concentrate, Butamaxx is diluted in water before spray application. The product is intended for use strictly as per the approved crop, weed, dose and timing recommendations on the product label for transplanted paddy.

Butachlor is a chloroacetamide herbicide that inhibits the synthesis of very-long-chain fatty acids (VLCFAs), which are essential for cell membrane and cuticle formation in germinating weed seedlings. It is absorbed mainly through the coleoptile and young shoots of germinating grasses and sedges, disrupting cell division and elongation before or shortly after emergence. Butachlor falls under HRAC/WSSA Group 15 (VLCFA inhibitors).
Butamaxx (Butachlor 50% EC) is diluted in the recommended volume of water and applied as a pre-emergence spray to the soil surface in transplanted paddy, using standard knapsack or boom sprayers, following the timing recommended on the approved product label.
