Amepro – Paraquat Dichloride 24% SL
Amepro is a herbicide manufactured by MaxxGro Agrology Limited, containing Paraquat Dichloride 24% as a soluble liquid (SL) formulation. It is used as a post-emergence, contact herbicide for controlling weeds such as Chenopodium sp., Anagallis arvensis, Trianthema monogyna, Cyperus rotundus and Fumaria parviflora in potato, at 5–10% weed emergence. Paraquat dichloride acts rapidly on contact with green plant tissue, causing desiccation of exposed weed foliage.
Paraquat Dichloride 24% SL is also registered for post-emergence, directed inter-row weed control in tea. As a soluble liquid, Amepro is diluted in water before spray application, and should be used strictly as per the crop, dose, timing and weed-stage recommendations on the approved product label.

- Contains Paraquat Dichloride 24% as the active ingredient
- Formulated as a Soluble Liquid/Concentrate (SL)
- Herbicide category product for weed management
- Registered use in potato, among other listed crops
- Fast-acting, non-selective contact herbicide on green tissue
- Post-emergence application at defined weed-emergence stage
Paraquat dichloride is a bipyridylium herbicide that acts through contact activity. It intercepts electrons at Photosystem I in the photosynthetic electron transport chain, generating reactive oxygen species that rapidly damage cell membranes, leading to desiccation of exposed green plant tissue. Because of this contact mode of action, thorough spray coverage of weed foliage is required. Paraquat dichloride falls under HRAC/WSSA Group 22 (Photosystem I electron diverters).
Amepro (Paraquat Dichloride 24% SL) is diluted in the recommended volume of water and applied as a post-emergence contact spray directed at emerged weed foliage in potato, at the 5–10% weed-emergence stage, using standard knapsack or boom sprayers, following the approved product label.
- Use strictly as per the directions on the approved product label
- Wear appropriate personal protective equipment during mixing and spraying
- Avoid spray drift onto sensitive or non-target crops
- Keep out of reach of children and away from food, feed, and water sources
- Store in a cool, dry place in original packaging
