- Dual mode of action: ergosterol biosynthesis inhibition and multi-site protection
This combination product acts through two complementary mechanisms. Tebuconazole is a triazole (DMI) fungicide that inhibits ergosterol biosynthesis by blocking the 14α-demethylase enzyme, disrupting fungal cell membrane formation (FRAC Group 3). Captan is a phthalimide fungicide that acts as a multi-site protectant, reacting non-specifically with thiol groups in fungal cells to prevent spore germination (FRAC Group M4). Together, they provide combined systemic and protectant disease control.
Serena (Tebuconazole 6.7% + Captan 26.9% SC) is diluted in the recommended volume of water and applied as a foliar spray in chilli, using standard knapsack or boom sprayers, following the approved product label.
