Metryne – Metsulfuron Methyl 20% WP

Metryne is a herbicide manufactured by MaxxGro Agrology Limited, containing Metsulfuron Methyl 20% as a wettable powder (WP) formulation. It is used for the post-emergence control of broad-leaved weeds such as Chenopodium album, Melilotus indica, Lathyrus aphaca, Anagallis arvensis, Vicia sativa and Cirsium arvense in wheat. Metsulfuron methyl is a systemic sulfonylurea herbicide, typically applied together with a recommended non-ionic surfactant.

Metsulfuron Methyl 20% WP is also registered for use in transplanted rice and sugarcane. As a wettable powder, Metryne is mixed with water before spray application, and should be used strictly as per the crop, dose, timing and weed recommendations on the approved product label.

  • Contains Metsulfuron Methyl 20% as the active ingredient
  • Formulated as a Wettable Powder (WP)
  • Herbicide category product for weed management
  • Registered use in wheat, among other listed crops
  • Controls a range of broad-leaved weeds
  • Systemic, ALS-inhibiting mode of action

Metsulfuron methyl is a sulfonylurea herbicide that inhibits the acetolactate synthase (ALS) enzyme, which is required for the biosynthesis of branched-chain amino acids in plants. This inhibition halts cell division and growth, leading to the gradual death of susceptible broad-leaved weeds. Metsulfuron methyl is classified under HRAC/WSSA Group 2 (ALS inhibitors).

Metryne (Metsulfuron Methyl 20% WP) is mixed with the recommended volume of water, together with the label-specified non-ionic surfactant, and applied as a post-emergence foliar spray in wheat, using standard knapsack or boom sprayers, following the approved product label.

  • Use strictly as per the directions on the approved product label
  • Wear appropriate personal protective equipment during mixing and spraying
  • Avoid spray drift onto sensitive or non-target crops
  • Keep out of reach of children and away from food, feed, and water sources
  • Store in a cool, dry place in original packaging
