Shanel – Diafenthiuron 50% WP
Shanel is an insecticide manufactured by MaxxGro Agrology Limited, containing Diafenthiuron 50% as a wettable powder (WP) formulation. It is used for the control of Whiteflies, Aphids, Thrips and Jassids in cotton. Diafenthiuron is a thiourea-derivative insecticide/acaricide that is converted within the insect to an active metabolite affecting cellular energy production.
Diafenthiuron 50% WP is also registered for use in cabbage, chilli, brinjal, cardamom, citrus and watermelon. As a wettable powder, Shanel is mixed with water before spray application, and should be used strictly as per the crop, pest, dose and timing recommendations on the approved product label.

- Contains Diafenthiuron 50% as the active ingredient
- Formulated as a Wettable Powder (WP)
- Insecticide/acaricide category product for pest management
- Registered use in cotton, among other listed crops
- Targets whiteflies, aphids, thrips and jassids
- Mitochondrial-respiration-disrupting mode of action
Diafenthiuron is a thiourea-derivative pro-insecticide that is converted within the insect body to a reactive carbodiimide metabolite. This metabolite inhibits mitochondrial ATP synthase, disrupting cellular energy (ATP) production and leading to the death of susceptible sap-sucking pests. Diafenthiuron is classified under IRAC Group 12A (mitochondrial ATP synthase inhibitors).
Shanel (Diafenthiuron 50% WP) is mixed with the recommended volume of water and applied as a foliar spray in cotton, using standard knapsack or boom sprayers, following the approved product label.
- Use strictly as per the directions on the approved product label
- Wear appropriate personal protective equipment during mixing and spraying
- Avoid spray drift onto sensitive or non-target crops
- Keep out of reach of children and away from food, feed, and water sources
- Store in a cool, dry place in original packaging
