MetaGro – Metalaxyl 35% WS
MetaGro is a fungicide manufactured by MaxxGro Agrology Limited, containing Metalaxyl 35% as a WS (water-dispersible powder for slurry seed treatment) formulation. It is used as a slurry seed treatment for the control of downy mildew, including Sorghum downy mildew, Sugarcane downy mildew, Philippine downy mildew and Brown stripe downy mildew, in maize. Metalaxyl is a phenylamide fungicide specifically effective against oomycete pathogens.
Metalaxyl 35% WS is also registered as a slurry seed treatment for downy mildew control in bajra (pearl millet). Unlike a foliar spray fungicide, MetaGro is applied to seed before sowing, following the approved product label for slurry preparation and seed treatment.

Metalaxyl is a phenylamide fungicide that inhibits RNA polymerase I in oomycete pathogens, blocking ribosomal RNA synthesis and halting pathogen growth. As a systemic seed treatment, it is absorbed by the germinating seedling and provides protection against downy mildew pathogens during early crop growth. Metalaxyl is classified under FRAC Group 4 (phenylamide fungicides).
MetaGro (Metalaxyl 35% WS) is mixed with the specified volume of water to form a slurry, which is applied uniformly to maize seed at the rate given on the approved product label before sowing, rather than as a field spray.
