Fipronil is a phenylpyrazole insecticide that blocks GABA-gated chloride channels in the insect central nervous system, disrupting normal nerve function and leading to hyperexcitation, paralysis and death of the target pest. Because it is applied as granules, it provides prolonged availability of the active ingredient in the root zone and standing water of paddy fields. Fipronil is classified under IRAC Group 2B (phenylpyrazoles).
Agrinil GR (Fipronil 0.6% GR) is broadcast directly onto the soil surface or standing water in the rice field, without dilution, following the timing recommended on the approved product label.
