Novectin – Novaluron 5.25% + Emamectin Benzoate 0.9% SC

Novectin is an insecticide manufactured by MaxxGro Agrology Limited, containing Novaluron 5.25% and Emamectin Benzoate 0.9% as a suspension concentrate (SC) formulation. It is used for the control of Fall Armyworm (Spodoptera frugiperda) in maize, under the ad-hoc approval issued for Fall Armyworm management. Novaluron and Emamectin Benzoate act through two different mechanisms on larval growth and the nervous system.

As a suspension concentrate, Novectin is diluted in water before spray application. The product is intended for use strictly as per the approved crop, pest, dose and timing recommendations on the product label for maize.

CROP Common Name of Pest Dosage / Acre Dilution in Water (L/acre) Waiting Period (Days)
– Fall armyworm 31.9 + 5.46 g A.I. – –
  • Contains Novaluron 5.25% + Emamectin Benzoate 0.9% as active ingredients
  • Formulated as a Suspension Concentrate (SC)
  • Insecticide category product for pest management
  • Registered (ad-hoc approved) use in maize against Fall Armyworm
  • Targets Fall Armyworm larvae
  • Dual mode of action: chitin synthesis inhibition and chloride channel activation

This combination product acts through two complementary mechanisms. Novaluron is a benzoylurea insect growth regulator that inhibits chitin synthesis, disrupting cuticle formation during larval moulting (IRAC Group 15). Emamectin benzoate is an avermectin derivative that activates glutamate-gated chloride channels in insect nerve and muscle cells, causing paralysis (IRAC Group 6). Together, they provide combined growth-regulating and neurotoxic activity against Fall Armyworm larvae.

Novectin (Novaluron 5.25% + Emamectin Benzoate 0.9% SC) is diluted in the recommended volume of water and applied as a foliar spray, directed into the whorl, in maize affected by Fall Armyworm, using standard knapsack or boom sprayers, following the approved product label.

  • Use strictly as per the directions on the approved product label
  • Wear appropriate personal protective equipment during mixing and spraying
  • Avoid spray drift onto sensitive or non-target crops
  • Keep out of reach of children and away from food, feed, and water sources
  • Store in a cool, dry place in original packaging
